The nightmare begins when a Bed Bug finds it’s way into your home, either from a hotel, a visitor in your home, used furniture, really ANYWHERE. Hospitals, businesses, homes, buses and hotels are just a few places where bed bugs are reported. Finding Bed Bugs in your home has nothing to do with poor hygiene. It takes only one Bed Bug to hitch a ride on your clothing, furniture, suitcase, etc., and infest your residence. What’s worse is that they can live up to one year dormant not needing blood to feed on. Feeding takes 10-15 minutes for an adult and less for the nymphs, they can feed every three days. Bed Bugs can survive, depending on the conditions, for months without feeding. It is said that Bed Bugs do not transmit disease from feeding on your blood, however, an engorged Bed Bug can burst at the slightest bit of pressure exposing you to human blood.

People who have had Bed Bugs can also suffer from PBBD (Post Bed Bug Disorder, similar to PTSD Post traumatic stress disorder). The bites will go away but what can stay is this illness characterized by irritability, sleeplessness, anxiety and Bed Bug hallucinations.  For more information on the physiological effects go here:
