Progressive Pest Management Ant Control

Some Nevada Insects may have died off this winter but left behind eggs that hatch in the warmer weather. A milder winter may lead to a longer breeding season which can of course mean more insects than usual.

While many kinds of insects come out in the spring, certain insects are especially prevalent. Some of the more common insects you will begin to see are:

  • Spiders
  • Ants
  • Carpenter Ants
  • Wasps
  • Hornets
  • Earwigs
  • Termites

An early spring can also mean that Termites are already looking for mates. Homeowners usually do not even know that they have a termite issue until damages are done. We recommend termite inspections to ensure you do not have termites prior to any damages occur.

Are you buying or selling a home? It is in your best interest to have a Wood Destroying Pest Inspection. The inspection is made to determine visible evidence of absence of noted organisms. It is may only in those areas of noted structures which are readily accessible and visible. Inspections are made in areas which infestations are most likely to occur.

Items checked for during an inspection are:

  • Termites
  • Other Wood destroying insects
  • Wood destroying fungi
  • Earth to Wood contacts
  • Faulty Grades
  • Insufficient Ventilation
  • Excessive Moisture
  • Cellulose Debris

Items listed above that are found during an inspection, Progressive Pest Management can also repair, correct and or treat if needed.

Spring Cleaning is an important key in helping keep your home insect free. You know the saying “Clean enough to be healthy, dirty enough to be happy”.

It’s important when it comes to pest proofing your home.

Spring-cleaning tips:

  • Store all kitchen and pet food in sealed containers
  • Keep a lid on all your trash
  • Keep any standing water away from the perimeters of your home
  • Keep bushes, shrubs, and tree’s away from your house
  • Seal any cracks or gaps
  • Keep all gutters clean
  • Make sure your screen and doors have no cracks, rips, or tears

We offer routine monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, or one-time services as needed. We do recommend routine services to keep the chemical barrier continually working.

Progressive Pest Management Bed Bug Control

Now, let’s get down and dirty… and talk about BED BUGS. Although bed bugs have nothing to do with spring, they are a nightmare year-round but I’m going to talk about it because our calls have increased tremendously for bed bugs.  Here is what you need to know:

The nightmare begins when a Bed Bug finds its way into your clothing; it usually happens at a hotel but can start anywhere. Hospitals, businesses, homes, buses, apartments, and hotels are just a few places where bed bugs are being reported. It is said that bed bugs don’t transmit disease from feeding on your blood; however, an engorged bedbug can burst at the slightest bit of pressure exposing you to human blood.

It takes only one bed bug to hitch a ride on your clothing (furniture, suitcase, etc.) and infest your residence. What’s worse is that they can live up to one year without drinking a drop of your blood. Feeding takes about 10 to 15 minutes for adults and less for the nymphs; they feed about every three days. Depending on the conditions, bed bug nymphs can survive for months without feeding.

People can suffer physically from the effects of bed bugs, but the bites go away………. what does not go away is PBBSD (post bed bug disorder) an illness characterized by irritability, sleeplessness, anxiety, and bed bug hallucinations.
