Moisture is a key survival for ant colonies. Any leaks from faulty plumbing or roof leaks provide excessive moisture. Even long after the leaks are repaired, the moisture may remain at the site if it is not ventilated properly or if water soaked wood is not replaced. Gutters are another source of moisture. Gutters may go unnoticed for several years causing an ideal nesting site. Attic and crawl ventilation plays a major role as well. If no vents or only a few are present it is likely to have inadequate ventilation. If all these conditions are not corrected, the infestation may not be eliminated or can return again and again.
