Western Black Widows

Black Widow spiders are nocturnal , which means they are active during nighttime. They spend most of their time hanging upside down in their web, which often makes the hourglass marking immediately visible.

The female Black Widow is considered dangerous and the much smaller male is harmless.

Western Black Widows are a glossy jet-black, with a bright-red hourglass marking on the underside of their abdomen.
